Our Community

The city of Puttaparthi is known famously for being location of Sathya Sai Baba's ashram, a place that once attracted grand amounts of tourism and employed much of the local community up until the guru's passing known as a Shivaikyam in 2011. Up until this time, many of the students' parents worked in the ashram and would help financially support the school, but the city's prosperity slowly waned and many families of the children felt the pressures of poverty. Our student enrollment is aimed entirely toward financially poor and needy children. Every child is a child of God, and through God’s grace we see the potential of their well being and intelligence waiting to blossom regardless of their situation or past.

Many of the children's parents are laborers, store attendants, milk and vegetable venders, and the like, and they only earn a little . Every student currently arrives to school by foot, with some of them walking up to an hour twice daily for the opportunity to learn at Sri Sai Deepthi. Our school is entirely operated by donations, which is why any additional financial support is crucial to our success and outreach. When there are shortfalls some months, our teaching staff will take delayed payments and even pay cuts so that we may be able to cover the most essential expenses of food for the children and the school’s daily services and activities.

A kind HEART is a temple of God. Service to mankind is service to divinity.
